FUSION today announced the purchase of a Federal Way Econo Lodge and plans for converting it into a family emergency shelter. Following renovation work, the FUSION Family Center will be a first of its kind shelter for the city.
The Family Center annually will provide 406 beds to shelter 116 families with 90 days of housing. The program will include triage, counseling and stability planning, as well as resources for securing employment and permanent housing.
“When I think of the families and individuals, of which more than 250 will be children, that will be served I am prouder than ever to be a part of FUSION,” said FUSION Executive Director Robin O’Grady.
The Family Center plans to open in mid-2020 when refurbishing of office and community spaces is completed. FUSION currently owns and manages 20 transitional housing units in Federal Way and Northeast Tacoma. The FUSION Décor Boutique retail store supports these programs.
