A volunteer crew began pre-demolition work for converting the Econo Lodge to a FUSION Family Center in Federal Way. Preliminary tasks to prepare office and community spaces started with work parties on February 14 and 17.
Tasks to prepare office and community room spaces for renovation included removing unusable furniture and mattresses, cleaning and prepping walls for painting, and inventorying linens and supplies.
FUSION volunteers were joined by Lennar Homes employees, led by Marketing Director Julie Siegler, to coordinate tasks and do the heavy lifting. Lennar also provided lunch.
The FUSION Family Center, set to open Fall 2020, will be a 29-room emergency shelter for parents and their children experiencing homelessness. The Center will serve 116 families annually.
